About the Journal

MAGAZINE HISTORY

In 1992, in the city of Sucre (Bolivia), the Bolivian Journal of Plastic Surgery (RBCP) was launched as the official organ of scientific dissemination of the Bolivian Society of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery (SBCPER).

The Directorate was in charge of Dr. Guido Andrade Murillo, and 3 issues were published in the following years, in which we found research works by colleagues from the country as well as foreign professors such as Drs. Alberto Rancatti and Fortunato Benaim.

The resources for these publications came from the contributions of the members of the SBCPER. In 1994 the project was abandoned; We assume that the difficulties of the time for sending jobs and the economic aspect finally weighed more.

In 2015, Bolivia, specifically the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, was the host of the Bolivarian Congress of Plastic Surgery, the most important regional event of the FILACP of our specialty, where we received the most outstanding professionals in our area. The organization of this event encouraged us to realize a dream, which was to be able to relaunch our scientific journal. To make this possible, and knowing the difficulties that those who preceded us had, we structured a project that in its first stage included the signing of financial aid agreements with commercial houses and laboratories to achieve the economic sustainability of the magazine over time.
